As I turned a familiar corner, to the left, a blinding late-September sun made my eyes go funny - bouncing off, as it did, those broken, unemployed leaves - as this song built to a closing fury and rage in my worn-out ears and I got a vivid flashback to the time I was almost introduced to Emma Anderson from Lush. But that moment, those sounds, were a long time ago now and, the thing is, there is no going back. But today, in Glasgow, we had sun and warmth and a few remembered smiles... that's all worth scribbling about (especially if it involves a song and a memory).

ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of good, Okkervil River is playing the Oran Mor the 19th November. I highly recommend going if you have not seen them. I woud come over myself, but that would drive my family over the deep end and make me kind of a groupie.:)

ReplyDeleteYou almost met Emma!? That's a story worth telling, the closest I ever got was the angst-ridden conversations I had with her in my head in my 20 something apartment. Also, Film School = Love! There'll be a post soon no doubt, with a dapper hats off to you, my friend. xo
ReplyDeleteHaha. I had those conversations as well, but mostly with Robert Smith and Ian McCulloch (whose haircuts I was in <3 with, back in the day). As for Emma, the one that got away! I missed my chance to gush praise and adoration after a gig in Edinburgh. Anyway... glad you enjoyed Film School. They are pretty special, just wish I could see them play live. Frustrating! x
